AFFORDABILITY - SECURITY - ACCOUNTABILITY

The Montgomery County Airpark has become a major source of community outrage as constant low-flying aircraft and repetitive training flights generate relentless noise that disrupts homes, schools, and daily life. At the same time, continued use of leaded aviation fuel has raised serious health concerns, with residents demanding cleaner alternatives, real monitoring, and decisive action to protect families—especially children.

The Montgomery County Airpark has become a growing flashpoint for nearby resident and communities, as relentless aircraft noise increasingly disrupts daily life. Residents report constant low-flying planes, repetitive training loops, and early-morning and late-evening flights that rattle homes, interrupt classrooms, and shatter any sense of peace. Despite years of complaints, outdated noise studies and limited enforcement have left families feeling ignored while flight activity continues to intensify over densely populated neighborhoods.

Equally alarming are ongoing concerns about lead pollution from piston-engine aircraft that still burn leaded aviation fuel. Parents and community advocates warn that airborne lead particles can settle into soil and homes, posing long-term health risks—especially to children—yet comprehensive, continuous monitoring remains scarce. While officials point to emissions data below federal thresholds, residents argue that “below the limit” does not mean safe, demanding cleaner fuels, real transparency, and decisive action before irreversible damage is done.

We also have foreign pilots training in the Airpark.

My plan:

• Audit all Airpark finances/books since its inception and find out where the $30 million dollars in government grants have gone using MoCo DOGE
• Request federal intervention from FTA, DHS, DOJ, FBI, and EPA

Our small- and medium-sized businesses are under attack: they have been ignored and systematically destroyed as the council has prioritized big-box companies in the last 15 years. For this reason, I will prioritize legislation that makes supporting small- and medium-sized businesses the cornerstone of the economic recovery in the county. They create local jobs, contribute to the county’s coffers through taxes and improve our local supply chains and as such, I will prioritize helping and supporting them.

Moreover, I will improve the investment climate/environment in the county be streamlining regulations/permits, and creating tax incentives for new businesses to open shop in the county. The economy is a priority, just like the other issues we’re dealing with such as education, security, and lack of accountability in the council, which are not mutually exclusive of each other. If we start fixing the economy, then we’ll have the financial wherewithal to tackle other pertinent issues facing the county.

Working class families and the middle-class need financial relief and calling on the following steps as soon as I get into office in December:

• Call for a full audit of all council finances with our own MoCo DOGE
  • Review contracts with NGOs and their activities (reports)
  • Redirect budget items to address wasteful spending
• Refocus expenditures on budget items that address current resident concerns
  • Damascus High School
  • More money for the police department
• Create investment incentives for businesses to open shop in the county
• Streamline regulations for businesses

As one of the wealthiest counties in Maryland, there is no reason for our county not to have the financial resources to address all the problems we currently have. The problem is that the financial resources are allocated inefficiently and I will work to change this, supporting the prioritization of economically feasible and responsible spending.

The County Council has had carte blanche in spending for the last 10 years and the results are in. Do you know why your property taxes keep increasing every year? It’s not because of inflation, it’s because the council has mismanaged the county finances and need to squeeze residents and businesses to make up for the incompetence of managing both the economy and finances. The County Council is also planning to bring the New Green Deal and the Build Back Better plans to the county, which I will stop when elected. These plans don’t take into account the cost-benefit analysis, which ultimately will mean exponential increases in income, property, and business taxes across the board.

My immediate proposal as soon I’m sworn into office in December:

• Freeze property taxes for two years
• Freeze utility rates (gas, water, electricity)

These initial decision will immediately provide financial relief to working and middle class residents, who have been suffering from a constant financial attack by the Council and the Executive Elrich.

The quality of life in the county is predominantly a function of how safe do residents feel in their neighborhoods. As such, my priority will be to provide support to the Police Department by prioritizing manpower and one way to do that is to increase in the budget for department. Our streets are less safe now than they have ever been, thanks to the “defund the policy” policies and the creation of the Accountability Board that hamstrings police officers in their ability to do their job.

With the rise of criminality in the county as a whole, it is imperative that the focus in the council be to increase the financial support to our police so that they can have the tools to quell criminal activity at all levels. Crime statistics are through the roof. Over the last 4 years, crime has increased over 77% in the whole county as a whole and over 50% in District 7. When elected, I plan to work with the Chief of Police to refocus priority to more manpower rather than rely on technology as the current “drone” program is inefficient and does not address the rampant crime in our streets.

My plan:

• Reestablish close cooperation with federal agencies
• Introduce bills to remove the Accountability Board restrictions of the police force
• Refocus police work on manpower rather than on Drones
• Focus on red areas (Montgomery Village, Derwood, Gaithersburg)

Despite billions of dollars going to education, MCPS has failed at every turn, with math and reading scores dropping every year. Money is not problem, but the priorities that the Board of Education (BOE) has pushed for years away from focusing on core subjects. Moreover, teachers have been sidelined: Teachers are the backbone of our communities and deserve all the support from the council to be able to have a “say” on all policies directed at our school’s curriculum, budget, and related policies.

The BOE is beholden to teacher union that has an agenda that does not have the best interest of the students and parents in mind. On this premise, I will work on focusing the budget discussion on shifting priorities from allocating most of the budget from administrative staff to teaching staff, which has been a notably skewed for over 10 years. Additionally, I will also make it a priority to support the inclusion of parents in the review and development of existing and new curriculum. When elected, I plan to honor and respect the Supreme Court’s Decision on the Opt-Out option for parents who do not want their kids to be exposed to inappropriate sexualized material. Our children need to learn how to read and write to be competitive in the job market instead of going to drag-queen story time events or worry about if they should change their gender.

For decades, Montgomery County has treated agriculture as land to regulate instead of an industry to grow. Farmers are buried in red tape, delayed by endless permitting, and blocked from expanding their businesses while neighboring counties aggressively support rural economic development. The result has been fewer profitable farms, fewer young people entering agriculture, and a stagnant rural economy.

The Agricultural Reserve was created to preserve farming, but preservation without profitability does not work. If farms cannot survive economically, the land eventually becomes financially unsustainable. The problem is not a lack of land or opportunity — it is a county government that has prioritized bureaucracy over economic growth.

Farmers are the backbone of Montgomery County’s rural communities and deserve a county government that treats them like entrepreneurs instead of obstacles. I will work to remove unnecessary regulations, streamline approvals for agricultural businesses, and expand opportunities for agritourism, wineries, breweries, farm markets, and value-added agriculture.

When elected, I will focus on making agriculture profitable again so the Agricultural Reserve remains a thriving part of Montgomery County’s economy instead of a museum preserved by regulation alone. Ultimately, my goal is to make he sector a regional player for agriculture where we not only foster growth of our local supply chains, but be part of the regional supply chains.
